Firm Profile

The firm of Art Cader Architect Inc. was established in 2006 and since its inception, has been focused on providing innovative design solutions for a diverse range of project types and program complexity. Early work included single family residential located on the BC Sunshine Coast plus a variety of institutional projects in the university environment, continuing to evolve in that direction with growing involvement in a wider variety of campus projects types. Typical current projects include renovations to teaching, research and healthcare facilities plus single family custom homes.

In more recent years the firm has started to take on new project types and roles such as feasibility study of healthcare uses for the Fraser Health Authority, owner representative work at the newly constructed UBC Pharmaceutical Sciences Building, and further renovation work on other science-based campus buildings such as the alterations at the Earth Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences Building. Art Cader Architect Incorporated is a prequalified architect for University of British Columbia, British Columbia Institute of Technology and the Fraser Health Authority.

The firm strives to maintain a strong practical base, providing a creative, experienced, hands-on approach to all phases of the projects and in turn, developing consistently strong working relationships with clients, user groups and building contractors. The practice is rooted in the belief that even the simplest project with a minimal budget must retain a level of design integrity and respect of budget constraints, and therefore is continually building and reinforcing an understanding of architecture and expertise in that service.

Ongoing interests include furthering an expertise in science-based research uses as well as continuing to develop artistic skill based in sculpture and the graphic arts. As an overall philosophy, the merging of art and science through opportunities in architecture is a long term goal for the firm.
